Morgantown Learning Academy provides an opportunity for students to continue having fun and learning during after school hours with specialized clubs. The clubs are taught by parents, teachers, and community members who have decided to enrich the lives of children through specialized instruction.
*Semester 1 starts the week of September 19th and ends the week of December 12th.
Please note that your child will be signed-in to the After-School Program either before or after club times and you will be billed for this time on a monthly basis. Please also note that there are NO REFUNDS for clubs.
MLA requires that a one time $25 club fee be paid annually per student. Costs per club will vary. All parents must sign your child(ren) out with the After-School Program after the club is over for the day. If the After-School program is needed, it is available from 3:15pm to 6pm and is $4.00 per half hour.
Please find below some of our clubs for Spring 2016.
This club is for our students who just can’t get enough of being outside and who want to learn more about the trees, animals, plants, trails, and treasures that we have right here on MLA’s property. We spend every minute of our hour together hiking on our new trail around the property and exploring our forest. While this class will be full of fun and exciting discoveries, Senora also uses principles of individual responsibility, team work, and good stewardship to guide our adventures. As part of the discovery process, we identify the key tree species as well as some of our different wildlife habitats. We will also work together to make a student map of the different trails and
Girls on the Run
We are excited and proud to host the Girls On the Run Program at Morgantown Learning Academy! Girls on the Run is a "positive youth development program that inspires third-eighth grade girls to stay true to themselves and live free from societal stereotypes." Our girls will take part in a 24-lesson Girls on the Run curriculum that combines training for a 5K (3.1 miles) running event with lessons that inspire girls to become independent thinkers, enhance their problem solving skills and make healthy decisions. All of this is accomplished through an active collaboration with girls and their parents, schools, volunteers, staff, and the community. Our girls will meet Wednesdays and Fridays from 3:30 to 4:45. Homeschoolers are welcome to join our team. Please check out the GOTR website for more details www.gotrncwv.org or contact Tracey Lea Frisch, our site coordinator, for more information.
