Morgantown Learning Academy creates a unique learning environment in which students are encouraged to be initiators, to question, explore, create, share, and experience the excitement of learning. Our teachers are committed to enhancing the growth and development of children through structuring a classroom that allows the students to explore and learn. We welcome and encourage the involvement of our children, parents, and faculty, and the ideas and energy they bring to the challenge of realizing the special vision of education we share for our children.

The purpose of this statement is to explain our beliefs about teaching and learning, our goals for our children, and how these goals and beliefs guide the everyday activities in our classrooms.

Over the course of their preschool, elementary, and middle school years at Morgantown Learning Academy, our students will be encouraged to develop:
  • An eagerness to learn and explore and an appreciation for the variety and wonder of our world.
  • Confidence in their own ability to learn and to express their ideas.
  • Respect for themselves and for others, and for individual differences among people.
  • Self-motivation, self-reliance, and the ability to complete and critically evaluate tasks or projects.
  • An ability to do logical problem-solving, both as an individual and as a member of a group.
  • A command of skills and knowledge -- academic, physical, and social -- that are needed to express themselves and to expand understanding and exploration of the world.
  • An inquiring, creative, and critical mind.
