Morgantown Learning Academy creates a unique learning environment in which students are encouraged to be initiators, to question, explore, create, share, and experience the excitement of learning. Our teachers are committed to enhancing the growth and development of children through structuring a classroom that allows the students to explore and learn. We welcome and encourage the involvement of our children, parents, and faculty, and the ideas and energy they bring to the challenge of realizing the special vision of education we share for our children.

The purpose of this statement is to explain our beliefs about teaching and learning, our goals for our children, and how these goals and beliefs guide the everyday activities in our classrooms.

The classrooms at Morgantown Learning Academy are active and busy. Children are learning by doing. For example, they may experiment with electricity; write and illustrate their own books; research other cultures; play math games; discuss community issues; invite speakers to present all sides of an issue; present a puppet show to parents, or study their shadows in relationship to the position of the sun. Children are often encouraged to work cooperatively on projects and share their ideas and discoveries.
